As a general rule, wireless surveillance cameras aren't the most reliable or professional security cameras. Cheaper models have a tenancy to overheat (we don't sell those), but even the better quality ones are often very limited in what they can do. We've got some decent products below, but wireless security cameras are still extremely limited and fill the need best for baby monitoring - not professional surveillance.

What People who Need Wireless Video Transmission Actually Buy

Generally, people who still need wireless video transmission, once they know all the details about wireless cameras, actually buy this product:

This Brickcom WVS01AP converts your video into data and allows it to be sent via Cat 5 cable or wifi. This allows you to transmit any security camera's video wirelessly.

But, of course, it costs around $500.

Other customers sometimes find that IP cameras with wifi can meet their needs, but again the price point is a good deal higher than the cameras on this page (and work with IP Camera Systems not analog systems). Some non-security themed tech companies have begun selling wifi "security cameras" for around $100, but all they are nothing more than glorified webcams.

Most people Don't Really Want Wireless Once They Know the Drawbacks

There's also a catch 22 of wireless: the camera still needs power. If you can't power it locally, you're going to be running cable anyway. To those that say, "I don't want to run cable because it's a long ways away" even this $500 Wifi solution won't work because Wifi only goes about 100ft. So now you're getting into specialized long range wireless equipment that get's REALLY expensive very quickly.

For home users, most of the time, the best solution is to just lay the wire.

Unfortunately there's a huge gap for middle-of-the-road wireless technologies. You're either using cheap and almost unusable radio frequency tech (akin to toy walkie talkies and baby monitors -- the kinds of cameras shown below. -- Which we should stop and say are fine for baby monitors -- they just aren't meant for anything more robust than that!) or super high tech/high powered broadband antennas that are really only feasible for people with NSA's budget.
