Dummy Security Cameras AKA Fake CCTV Cameras

Sometimes, instead of a real surveillance camera, a dummy camera is used.

Although we do not recommend using Dummy Cameras in most security scenarios, there are several reasons why using a fake surveillance camera might be advantageous. 1. Dummy Cameras can often be cheaper than a security camera system, especially since you will not need to purchase a DVR. 2. Fake CCTV cameras can be placed in areas where you may not be able to legally record surveillance video but would still want people to behave as if someone was watching them.

In most cases, however, it is significantly better to have CCTV footage. Although a fake camera may deter crime, you will be giving up your strongest evidence to convict a criminal, should a crime occur.
