PTZ Controller Keyboards

PTZ controllers are devices used to quickly pan, tilt, and zoom a PTZ security camera. The controller has many options that let's you get extremely technical with the camera. When compared to DVR software it is a cheaper way to manipulate the camera. If you are looking to buy only one camera and no DVR, then this is the device you need to control any PTZ camera. DVR's have software that can control PTZ cameras, but it is limited in it's abilities.

PTZ Distributors Are Needed For Managing Multiple PTZ Cameras

If you were wondering how you are going to be able to manage a series of PTZ cameras, you are going to need a RS485 distributor to do so. One of the most common ways of setting up a system with multiple PTZ cameras is to "daisy chain" them, but this method will not work when you have 4 or more cameras in the system. A RS485 receiver, will allow you to network each camera to a deticated terminal on the receiver. Each channel can be individually managed by the end-user. Integration is simple with the receiver installed between the PTZ controller and the DVR. You can setup the receiver to integrate with your PC based DVR through a single RS232 port. You will however need a RS485 to RS232 adapter, to interphase with your PC based DVR. Make no mistake that this is the best way to hook up multiple PTZ security cameras. If you are looking to only have one or two PTZ cameras, then you can use a PTZ controller, we have some listed above. We have a different look for each and every type of CCTV application. If you have any questions about our PTZ controllers, gives a call and speak with a technician today.

RS485 Is The Industry Standard For All PTZ Camera Communication

RS485 is the CCTV standard for communication connection between a PTZ camera and a security DVR. Standalone dvrs, usually have the "green" RS485 inputs for one or two PTZ cameras already from the factory, where all you have to do is run a twisted pair (CAT 5) to the right positive and negative terminal and you are successfully plugged in. However, if you have a PC based DVR, you may or may not have a RS232 serial port. They use to make these pretty standard about 6 years ago, however, there are more USB connections attached to mother-boards now. So if you have a PC based dvr without this port you will need to purchase a USB to RS232 adapter, in order to successfully adapt your computer to receive the RS485 connector. Our PC based DVRS all have this port on them, so if you are ever in the market for a security DVR that is PC based know that you need to have a RS232 port or you will have to find an adapter to make the connection successful.
