RG59 Cable Is The CCTV Industry Standard

 

RG59 cable is the industry standard for transmitting video signal. The term RG59 is the type of gauge the cable is. By gauge we mean the thickness of the cable. See there are different gauges you can use. The goal is to measure the power of what you are trying to transmit and make sure you have the right gauge. Most security cameras can transmit signal well over a RG59 or RG6. RG6 is a thicker gauge cable. The cable is not very well shielded and you will have to keep that in mind when blue-printing your CCTV installation.
