Installing A Dome Camera On Drop Down Tile Ceilings

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

DVC-CMD803med

Ever wonder how to do something properly sometimes. We have many resellers, that buy from us and we have been working hard to make pdf documents of all our products. Products that have our own specs from our testing, measurements and perspective. We even want to be able to have our manuals for setup and installation. Our goal is to really center the focus of CCTV and share the information with all whom seek it. In this post we will focus on a tricky subject. Although this is targeted at our installers, anyone who decides that they have a do-it-yourself CCTV project can also benefit from the information, and advice we are giving away here.

Here is the proper way to mount a dome camera: First evaluate am ideal location in the ceiling for mounting the camera. Next, separate the camera, dome cover and dome ring from the mounting base. Cut a hole in the roof large enough for routing the cables. Align the mounting base over the surface of the cable hole and make marks on the ceiling where screw holes to be drilled and then drill the four screw holes. Attach the dome cover over the camera and the mounting base. Screw the dome ring on, and tighten the screws to fix the camera position. Carry out the setting and adjustments to the camera. Loosen dome cover to adjust camera’s panning and tilt direction toward the area to be monitored. Adjust the zoom and the focus position by using the zoom and focus lever screw. Connect the video output cable of the camera to the video input of a monitor, TV, DVR or other equipment. Connect the DC power cable to a 12V power supply unit and wa-la. You are done. This is a very simple process, however, fabrication for each application is different. We also suggest you take real good care when attaching the base of the dome to the ceiling. If you are still hazy on how to do this, feel free to call our 800 line and speak to a CCTV tech today.

HITACHI-CMD725HD

Well it is here now! We have got a new model dome camera in stock. This dome camera looks very similar to our SONY-CMD705H, except HITACHI makes this camera. The chip-set from HITACHI, just outperforms the SONY model. 680 is the new standard for hi-resolution video. The chip-set itself is 1/3″ SUPER HAD CCD, so it allows for great color video as long as there is enough light for it to render a video shot. Also this dome camera features a 14 bit digital signal processor. Another really great feature this camera has is it’s starlight feature, it can see in very low lighting conditions and still render a good color video shot. The lux rating that matches this camera’s starlight lens is 0.001 lux. It also has a very wide range of focus from it’s lens. The varifocal lens setting is 2.8 ~ 10mm. It has vandal proof casing, infrared technology, wide-dynamic-range, dual voltage, and it can be used indoors or outdoors. It is a really great feat for us, this camera is the absolute best dome camera we could current offer and it is only $199. So if you are looking for high performance, you definitely should take a look at this camera. Visit our dome security cameras and look at our many different professional models today.

What are the differences between a dome camera and a ptz camera?

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

domevsptzcameras

What are the differences between these two security cameras? They both look like domes right? Both security cameras are both great in design, and appeal. However, they have  major differences. Those differences start at the insides of the cameras. PTZ security cameras have a super brain inside their smoked color domes. The brain of a ptz camera, has artificial intelligence. Most ptz security cameras have to be manually zoomed in and out. They also pan both left and right. Seems that compared to regular dome security cameras they are just far more advanced. Dome cameras have the ability to have a fixed lens, or a varifocal lens built into the base of the dome.  Dome cameras can never be manually controlled. They can never be zoomed in and out or panned side to side.  There are many different sizes and styles of ptz cameras. Ptz security cameras can be made into “recess mounted” domes. They are so small that they look like dome cameras. With their smokey domes, it would be hard to know if the dome was looking at you, or that it is zooming in and out. Recess mounted ptz cameras could fit into residential communities and never be reported because they are so small. Just know that when trying to compare these two cameras it is not even a contest. Dome cameras are just not in the same class as ptz cameras. When you look at the price tag between the two, you can understand why they are in separate classes. When it comes to surveillance applications it really does not matter which camera is more powerful than others. It is about what it can do in an overall security setup. For example, if you have an indoor CCTV setup, then having ptz security cameras will not do you much good, in that they are too powerful. Instead a collection of fixed dome cameras with 3.5mm lens will do better. PTZ cameras are meant for an entirely different purpose. So you can see why we can say, the fight between which camera is the best becomes a no contest. In the end neither camera can out do each other. Choosing the right camera depends on what you need to accomplish in your security needs. But for the record PTZ cameras have the best technology, and are far more superior than dome cameras. However, dome cameras are more versatile and are cheaper than ptz cameras. So we declare this bout a “no contest”!

Learning About Security Cameras

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

So everyone has seen, or heard about security cameras right? Most people think of security cameras as digital cameras. Naturally they are on the right track. Security cameras are not too complicated, they are a tad different than digital or professional cameras. They still have the basic things about them, a lens, integrated circuit board, and chip sets. However, there are other things about security cameras, that set them apart from any other refractionary device. Like for instance they are built to see in hi resolution, without special lighting conditions, without props, and other accessory items. In fact the chip-sets found on these devices are amazing. Sure you can find Sony, Sharp, Panasonic, and other companies that manufacture parts for them, but the sheer size of these chip-sets in these security cameras make them independent. They have built in image sensors, some of them have auto-iris control, which is like the rods and cones you can find in human eyes. Security cameras are made to handle themselves and provide the highest level of live video possible.

There all kinds of security cameras too! Like there are dome, bullets, ptzs, hidden cameras, and special cameras. Everyone has seen the dome security cameras, they are very popular in grocery stores, department stores and pretty much all Walmarts. The domes provide great professionalism to any environment and can be fitted with any technology. Bullet security cameras got their name, because a shot gun often is about the size of the bullet or “shell” that blows through it, so naturally in the industry it got it’s name from looking like a bullet. Bullet cameras are really common in outdoor applications. They can width-stand harsh weather conditions, and most are fitted with infrared lights. The circuit board can switch from day to night time viewing because of the image sensor. It is great you get the best of everything in a bullet camera, color, black and white images a night, weather protection and easy adjusting. Domes can also be fitted with infrared lights and have a 3-axis adjustment which will allow you to position the lens anywhere you want.

All in all, security cameras are neat tools to have for any application. Everyday we are helping real people with real problems and these little guys do wonders. They are the set eyes that everyone can enjoy. Most of the first time customers that buy are weary and think it is very costly to building a complete CCTV system, and often start out with the cheapest stuff. Before you know it becomes a neat toy and customers call back, pushing the envelope in having the best stuff! In the next few blogs, we are going to talk more about PTZ security cameras next time and in the future we will give a break down of every camera, archived in our database, so you can search our blog and have a library of information. Happy hunting!!

New Dome Security Camera In Stock!

Here is the latest, hotest, dome security camera to hit our shelf. This is a great, professional, and hi resolution security camera. Everyone that has bought from this site loves the quality that we bring, and the prices are a great bargain. Many stores now on the web are selling the low resolution security cameras, but we believe that security needs to be something that you can see. Hands down, in any environment or application you should be able to see exactly what you want. There are many features that sets this security camera apart from many others. For instance, it has an easy access to adjust the varifocal setting from a 4-9mm. That means as your CCTV application changes, or if you need to make an adjustment it is very simple to do. Also this security camera features a 3-axis adjustment and has the ability to turn or positing the lens in any direction. The great thing is that the lens is a smokey, black color, and it makes it hard to see where the lens is pointed. So it can fool any employee, customer, or potential robber. We love to say that it makes them think about what they want to do, but they are still unsure as to where the lens is pointed, so people tend to behave. The 550 lines of resolution it has makes a great, sharp, and crisp picture. This dome security camera has a 1/3″ Sony Super HAD CCD Chip Set, so it takes in more light and gives you that HD image. Another thing to consider is what you are recording to. By hooking this camera up to a DVR with an H.264 compression board, you can get the best live feeds, and playback video on the planet. If you have any questions about this security camera, you can chat with a consultant live on the website, look to the right, and click the image. Or you can just call our 800 number for more information. We have currently 50 in stock and we know they will move fast.
